Apple to Launch iTunes on the Web

December 10th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Alverez

lala-front-260

Following Apple’s acquisition of Web-based music service Lala, it didn’t take much to connect the dots: Apple wants to take iTunes to the Web.

Today the WSJ confirms as much, citing “people familiar with the matter.” The Journal adds that the Web-based service would negate the need to download the iTunes software.

You wouldn’t need to download your music either; it could live on the cloud, accessible anywhere with a Web connection. Lala users current pay 10 cents to stream a track forever, significantly undercutting iTunes’ model – Apple might choose to keep that model intact.

It’s interesting, too, to consider the integration with Apple’s devices: 10 cents per song for music streamed to your iPhone, iPod touch or Apple tablet sounds like a compelling proposition, does it not?

The Pay-Per-Stream Model Emerges…. Pay-Per-Listen…. now THAT’S Content Consumption Control!

introducing Vevo.com

December 10th, 2009 / 2 Comments » / by Alverez

It looks like the industry is making another push to get control and monetize some of this content…
www.Vevo.com looks somewhat promising to the copyright holders. Not sure yet how it will affect the “online distributors” or pipelines.

From the executive’s chair
I like the possibility of a consistent advertising message while viewers look at content.

From the viewer’s chair… I hope they don’t bombard us.  But it’s all relative. Nothing exists for free.

Here’s an example video from the site. Check it out.

“Why Can’t We Live Together” – The Timmy Thomas Sample

December 7th, 2009 / No Comments » / by Alverez

I was at the laptop working last week and listening to music… This Timmy Thomas song came up on I-Tunes and caught my ear.  I like the organs and how the old sound was  spaced out w/ holes in it.

Timmy Thomas – Why Can’t We Live Together ( on iTunes )

All last week, the song was stuck in my head and I couldn’t figure out the reason …. Then I realized why…

Stay Strong When Business Gets Rough

November 7th, 2009 / 2 Comments » / by Alverez

keep-moving-logo_200xKeep your eyes on the oak tree.” Re-establish your key sales goals, write them down and have them clearly in front of you every day. Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goal. A successful businessperson once told me that the biggest reason people fail is because they take their eyes off the oak tree. When he was young and plowing on his farm, he would never look down at the ground. Instead, he would aim for a row of oak trees and plow a straighter furrow as a result. If you look at all the adversities–a rock, a tree stump or a small ravine–you’ll wander all over the place. But if you’ve got an oak tree in your sight, you’ll get past the rocks and accomplish your goals.”  —- by Barry Farber
