Wassup wit’ya ? … *affirmative head nod* 
It’s crazy how things just hit u all of a sudden… but I had to just sit down and take a sec and type it out.
One of my homeboy’s from my days in Atlanta hit me up today. I had a flashback about the crazy sh*t we used to do in the dorms back in the day and I sent him a text…. so he called me back. We chopped it up and laughed about old times, how much our perspective has changed over the years… and the paths we were on now.
Keep in mind though… this is my dog…my dog… i mean, real talk… he’s one of the founding investors in BooKoo Beats … He invested in “getting” me that Sony VAIO PC that jumped off the whole transition from DJing to Producing when i got back from my internship back in the day. We also took similar paths ( or detours ) away from college at that time. My departure was a little more “expedited” (inside joke)…. but we both eventually found ourselves outside of the classroom and posted up on the Strip…permanently.
Since then….again….we’ve taken similar paths back towards the chapter we skipped by getting into classes at Kennesaw State. I ended up finishing out here in Houston, and he will finish very soon.
So……as we began to wrap up the convo… there was something I knew I wanted to tell him before we got off the call. And that’s where it hit me….I had two ideas in my head…. but I could only get one out…..and it was point blank…life or death.
Both ideas were about my cousins…both of which he knew… One cousin lives in New Orleans and had a baby boy not too long ago… a son. My other cousin….no longer lives… he was tragically murdered , right outside of New Orleans, back in October and I, along w/ his family, are still dealing w/ it.
So, God told me as I was ending this convo w/ my homeboy…to encourage him. So as we spoke about family, marriage and next steps….. I chose to tell him about about the birth of my cousin’s baby boy and sign off on a high note. It hit me… so I had to hit you.
Tragedy and pain is something we all deal with, but sometimes We just need to deal with it. We’ve already been equipped with the strength and the means to handle it….( just like the Giraffe came equipped w/ a long neck for the tall trees LOL )
No matter what you may have going on that seems hard or distracts u…….
