Apple to Launch iTunes on the Web

Following Apple’s acquisition of Web-based music service Lala, it didn’t take much to connect the dots: Apple wants to take iTunes to the Web.

Today the WSJ confirms as much, citing “people familiar with the matter.” The Journal adds that the Web-based service would negate the need to download the iTunes software.

You wouldn’t need to download your music either; it could live on the cloud, accessible anywhere with a Web connection. Lala users current pay 10 cents to stream a track forever, significantly undercutting iTunes’ model – Apple might choose to keep that model intact.

It’s interesting, too, to consider the integration with Apple’s devices: 10 cents per song for music streamed to your iPhone, iPod touch or Apple tablet sounds like a compelling proposition, does it not?

www.Vevo.com looks somewhat promising to the copyright holders. Not sure yet how it will affect the “online distributors” or pipelines.

From the executive’s chair… I like the possibility of a consistent advertising message while viewers look at content.

From the viewer’s chair… I hope they don’t bombard us. But it’s all relative. Nothing exists for free.

the MostCold performed at the PPR 101 Conference in Houston, TX

C.Y ur HIGHNESS and ASHLEY FORRESTIER performed our newest songs, “Seconds (Stay Inspired)” and “Race for Space” at the recent PPR 101 (Professional Public Relations Conference) in Houston, TX (Alverez was on injured reserve.. lol )

We wanted to take the time out to show our appreciation to the event organizers ( Chiq Diva & Louis Anthony ) and the panelists (Steve Raze, Carlton Wade, Allen Johnston, Torrance G, Ericka Boston, T Piper, Pat Charles, Michelle Fitzgerald, Jayson Rodriguez) for the opportunity, insight and feedback.

And Special thanks to the Houston artists, J. Jonah & Miss Keitha, and Houston online editor, Micki B of EartoDaStreetz.com, for coming out and participating in the conference and showing their support. MAJOR THANKS to MARINA K at DEMERS BANQUET HALL in Houston,TX for letting us rent one of her rooms for our show practices…….And Most of all, SHOUT OUT to ALL OF THE POWERSPOKEN STAFF & FAMILY for all of the months of performances and preparation. We look forward to getting it up & running again real soon for Houston, TX.

We ended up performing in the 2nd to last slot, which was cool because it felt like we were closing the show. The circumstances surrounding our preparation for this show for the past month have been crazy between traveling, family life, struggles, setbacks, cancellations, lost bids, closed doors…etc. Even on the “day of” .…we had a few major glitches that could have kept us out of the line up. But it all got erased, once we hit that stage and performed “Stay Inspired”.

As far as the feedback goes… although we didn’t hear everything we wanted to…. we probably heard a lot of what we needed to. It’s all part of the game and part of this process. We appreciate it and we know how to flip it into fuel for the mission. Congratulations to all of the talented Houston artists who received media placements.
